For my piece to be characterised as a certain genre it needs to follow some codes and conventions. But if it’s the exact same as another film then it will be boring so it needs to challenge some of these. Some of the things that are included in my piece are typical parts of a certain genre. For example action shots, special effects, similar story line and more. In a typical thriller film music will be used to build tension and suspense up to a climax where something important will happen. My piece uses all of these features. The background music is of a stereotypical thriller film, fast and tense music building up to a climax. When an important scene comes up and the dialogue is important the music will die down and stop. So the audience is not distracted and can properly hear the dialogue. At first i filmed the film in colour but when it can to the editing stage i changed it to black and white so it would look better and scarier.
